|
The Plainfield Fire Protection District would like to remind all Homeowners, Landlords and Building owners of any occupancy
that have rooms used for people to sleep in are required to install Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors. The new Illinois law
requires the owner of the building to install CO detectors within 15 feet of all rooms used for sleeping.
The carbon monoxide detector may be battery operated, plug-in with battery-back-up or wired into the home's AC power
with a secondary battery-back-up. The CO detcetor must bear the label of a nationally recognized testing laboratory, and
must comply with the most recent standards of the Underwriters Laboratories or the Canadian Standard Association.

The Plainfield Fire Protection District recently completed a project to upgrade lighting fixtures to more energy efficient
fixtures. The project was supported by a grant from the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation provided to encourage
energy savings for local governments and organizations. The $8,375 grant covered most of the $13,081 cost. The project
will save the District approximately $61,000 over 5 years.
