|SHORTAGE OF OVER 2000 APPOINTMENTS FOR
DECEMBER – BLOOD DONORS NEEDED NOW!
The flu and cold season has severely impacted collections and inventory levels at Heartland Blood
Centers! Heartland reports that high school and business blood drives are coming in significantly under
projected blood draw. Additionally, Heartland's 14 center locations are collecting 50-100 less donations per
day. "This coupled with donors busy holiday schedule is greatly impacting our collections", said Amy Smith,
Director of Recruitment for the blood center.
"In the season of giving, many overlook giving one of the most important gifts — the gift of a lifesaving
blood donation. It is free to give and only takes on hour of your time", said Smith.
Healthy and eligible blood donors are needed now to roll up their sleeve and give blood at a mobile or
center. There are hundreds of patients in the 59 Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana hospitals that need
blood transfusions - please give so another may live!
